HOW TO WORK AS A TEAM FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE

Effective senior leadership teams are vitally important for organisational success. They set the purpose, the direction and the culture of  the organisation.  Yet research shows that on 47% are considered effective (Kennexa) and only 18% are very effective (Center for Creative Leadership).

WHAT MAKES A HIGH PERFORMING TEAM?

The research is clear, we know the characteristics of high-performing teams: trust, psychological safety, mutual accountability, clarity and alignment - so why do so few teams demonstrate these characteristics?

Team coaching is a partnership that enables teams the opportunity to collaborate through honest dialogue and consistent reflection to enhance both themselves and the system so they can achieve their collective purpose and improve performance.

AN EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH

All teams are unique. Different people bring different experiences, skills and ideas and operate in different contexts. That’s why we take a customised approach to team development.

We start by using objective assessment to understand team dynamics and identify the root causes of what’s working and what’s not.

Then we start ‘creating the team’ by aligning the team around purpose and values, followed by the process of developing strong, respectful, trusting relationships. This leads to agreements around building a culture that fosters a powerful, psychologically safe team culture.

Clarity around the work, deliverables, roles and accountabilities is then focus, along with problem solving approaches and decision-making policies and procedures.

Intentions don’t always lead to behaviour change. ‘Sustaining the team’ requires embedding the team’s new ways of working and relating. This takes coaching and feedback in real time. Our team coaching approach is honest yet supportive and empowering.

People and contexts change. The team must review, evaluate and  evolve so that it sustains high performance.
